I am currently an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Hajibabaei Lab. In September 2021, I will be entering my fourth year studying Biomedical Sciences at the University of Guelph. As a research assistant, I participate in lab protocols such as sample collection, sample homogenization, DNA extraction, and PCR. My main project for this summer will be helping to investigate the use of environmental DNA metabarcoding for the detection of at-risk bat species. Currently, I am also a volunteer for Wild Ontario, a non-profit organization that delivers live-animal environmental education programs using non-releasable raptors. In the future, I hope to take my passion for wildlife conservation and environmental outreach to graduate studies, or to veterinary school.
