Rachel Smith, BSc. (Laboratory Technician)
I completed my B.Sc. in Marine and Freshwater Biology at the University of Guelph. I started in the Hajibabaei lab as an undergraduate NSERC USRA summer student in 2014, continued working through the last year of my degree and started as a full-time technician in 2015.
As a lab technician I have helped process samples for multiple projects and have learned various molecular techniques such as DNA extraction and PCR.
I am passionate about aquatic ecosystems and hope to be part of research conducted on shark species and aid in the conservation of these enigmatic organisms.
